Karim,

For the Rip question. To send ONLY unicast updates (v1 or v2) you will need
to configure neighbors statically and then passive interface that interface
directly connected to the neighbor. Just do a debug ip rip to see how and
what updates are being sent.

Subject: EIGRP on NBMA - RIP V1 unicast instead of broadcast.

Hi all,

While having RIP or EIGRP configured on a NBMA (F.R.) hub and spoke
topology, with the hub using main interface, neighbor command will be needed

on both hub and spoke sides. Is it a must to configure passive interface for

the interfaces joining the frame-relay network?

Another question about rip v1:
To have 2 RIP-v1 routers using unicast instead of broadcast for routing
updates, a neighbor command also will be used on both sides but do i need (a

must or not) passive interface on the interfaces of the 2 routers or is it
optional??

Thanks in advance for co-operation,
Karim.
