Hello all,
I was hoping to write you a different story but Anyway, without breaking
the NDA here goes. The test is doable, I realize that it is usually people
who pass the lab that say that but I must say that I agree with them even
though I failed. The lab is NOT easy but it is fair and I really believe
Cisco wants you to get your number if you demonstrate that you know your
stuff of course. Forget all the horror stories about proctors, our lab
proctor was a very professional no-nonsense guy. If you asked the right
questions you got the right answers. Of course his answers were just
pointers to what the objective was and not the way to configure your
equipment. All my questions were answered without problems and when I
misread an address and asked a stupid question I got a purposely stupid
answer that made me go back and realize it was my fault.
So why did I fail? This is the most important question IMHO because a failed
attempt can teach you a lot if you are honest about yourself. I failed
because I wasnt prepared as well as I had to be. It has been said in this
list hundreds of times but let me say it once more: KNOW THE BASICS. Know
them the way you know how to tie your shoelaces, without thinking. OK I
exaggerate, think before you start read the objectives very carefully and go
for it. If you dont know the core stuff cold you will fail period. I have
been helped a lot by this list but I must tell you that I believe many
people here go for the exotic stuff and miss the core topics. The exotic
stuff may get you a few points but these are not nearly enough to pass the
lab. My advice to you for what its worth is concentrate on the core stuff
first and if you believe you have a solid knowledge of the core topics then
try to get the extra credit points. Anyway for me its rack-time again and I
hope next time I will have happier stories to tell you.

Regards,
George
