Hi,
If ISDN is being used to back up a primary connection (f/r, serial line, etc)
within an OSPF domain, can or should the ip ospf demand circuit feature be
used? Does the way in which isdn backup is implemented (backup interface,
dialer watch, etc.) affect how and whether ospf demand circuit can or should
be implemented?
I'm confused about this because of what I know about each of these
technologies individually and how various pieces of info about each seem to be
contradictory.
For example, when using isdn backup, only one side should place the call so
that you don't have both sides trying to call each other simultaneously. But,
on the other hand, when using ip ospf demand circuit both sides should be able
to place the call so that wherever there's a change in topology it can be
announced to the other side of the link.
Also, if the ip ospf demand circuit command isn't used on the backup isdn
link, won't that cause to link to stay continuously up until the primary link
is back up because of Hello traffic every ten seconds? Or, should Hello's be
blocked by an access list?
I'm trying to understand this but I only seem to get more confused the more I
research this. Thanks, Jim
