Hi Jim,
The RP router is no need to config itself as the RP, as when it receives
register message, it knows itself is a RP and routers accept to becomes a
RP by default. But you have to confirm that the RP haven't rejected itself
to becoms a RP, such as "ip pim accept-rp" or "ip pim accept-register"
configured.

I just want to confirm that the router acting as the RP does not need to
have it configured on itself.
It should learn that it is from the other routers correct ?
