CGMP confusion

Hi Group,

I have got another question before heading to bed for the nite ;)

R1 R2 R3
 | | |
----------------
     3550

I have been doing some practice labs, what I was confused is when I should use "ip cgmp" on the router's Ethernet interfaces, and when I can just do "ip pim sparse mode" (or dense mode etc) on Eth interface?

Some questions I saw are like:

"configure the Eth interface on Router R1, R2 & R3 to be members of 224.1.1.1 multicast group, and configure the 3550 to support multicast routing"

And based on that, would you enable "ip cgmp" on the router's Ethernet interface? And what to look for / determine that I will need CGMP on Ethernet?

Thanks in advance,

Best Regards,
Lee
