So, let's say I have a 2924 trunked to a 3550, VLAN 40 is the management
VLAN on the 2924... You are saying that it doesn't matter what VLAN I
come in on to manage the 3550?

Jonathan,
The 3550 with EMI software has no "management interface". It can be
managed
from any of its layer 3 interfaces, just like a router in this sense.
The
switch monitors all VLANs for which it has a layer 3 interface. You can
telnet to the device on any of these layer 3 addresses, and SNMP, NTP
and
TACACS+ can be sourced from any of them.
