No, I am talking about several books from several Cisco courses that cost
around 2000.00 each from GlobalKnowledge. Not 50.00 books.

The thread will die when it dies. I will try to refrain from posting on the
topic after this for the sake of the group, but you could simply not read
posts with this subject line.

It is a good topic, it is important and relatively new to written material
for public consumption, and deserves carefull thought and discussion. I
agree this is not the most appropriate place but I for one want to voice my
opinoin that it is a crock and say it is bullocks since it was brought up.
Some companies are now sending shrinked wrapped books with the license on
the front stating that if you break the seal you agree to the license and if
you don't you must send the material back as it is the property of the
publisher. EVEN IF YOU NEVER ASKED FOR THE BOOK AND THEY JUST SENT IT TO YOU
IN THE MAIL (this happened with OmniCare sending PDR's to a bunch of Doctors
but fell apart in court).Do we have to read the EULA on the books we buy
now??

I would never pay 500.00 for something I cannot resell, trade or give away.
If you agree and want to, go for it, but what's next? Childrens books?
Learning to read books? Maybe we will have to sign license agreements before
our kids can open their school books next year. It's nuts.
I fully agree with Copyrights and non redistribution of copyrighted material
and material transfer agreements but licensing written material? Come on.

I wonder if people were actual prosecuted for breaking the agreement if they
would still purchase knowing they could never resell, give the material away
or even let someone else read or use the material without facing the
possibility of law suits, heavy fines or possibly jail time (for letting
too many people read the material ). Friggin ridiculous.
