CHAP hostname is used on both ends. R1 is "SOUTH", R2 is "NORTH". Usernames
are configured on both ends. The name in the dialer map statement is
optional- check out my debugs. As I mentioned, the calls work fine after
shut/no shut.
R2:
09:42:36: BR0/0:2 PPP: Treating connection as a callout
09:42:38: BR0/0:2 CHAP: Using alternate hostname NORTH
09:42:38: BR0/0:2 CHAP: O CHALLENGE id 2 len 26 from "NORTH"
09:42:38: BR0/0:2 CHAP: I RESPONSE id 2 len 26 from "SOUTH"
09:42:38: BR0/0:2 CHAP: O SUCCESS id 2 len 4
R1:

09:42:38: BR0/0:2 CHAP: I CHALLENGE id 2 len 26 from "NORTH"
