Right, that's the Cisco-specific autoinstall procedures. I think what the
original question was that if you could use a plain-vanilla DHCP server to
give out addresses to new, unconfigured routers. I'd imagine by putting an
IP helper statement on a serial interface connecting to the unconfigured
router. I don't personally see how'd this ever work. I'm sure if you look
up the DHCP RFP, you'll see a MAC address is a necessary thing.
