Just buy the SMI, the EMI is just the enterprise IOS. I upgraded my SMI to
EMI downloaded from Cisco.com with no problems. P.S. I got the 24 port
10/100 with dual Gbit ports; seems like a sensible switch for a home network
or to resell when complete!
Thanks,

Subject: 3550 switch
I am going to break down and buy a 3550 for my home lab. My question is,
what is the minimum switch I will need to be able to duplicate what I will
see in the lab. Also, I am not sure of the difference between the SMI and
EMI versions.
