Are there any interfaces up up with a valid IP address? The router will not
start an OSPF process unless there is an interface from which to assign the
router id, like a loopback. Try putting a loopback on there with a valid IP
address and then starting the OSPF configuration.

Subject: strange router issue.

I have been working on a 2651 router for the past few hours in a lab running
ospf.

I finished a lab and erased the configs and reloaded the routers.

Now when I went to configure this 2651 router for ospf in this new lab I get
the following error.

Router1(config)#router ospf 100
OSPF :Could not allocate router id

All other routing protocols seem to work fine.. I can't see what's wrong..

Anyone any idea's
Kind regards.
Paul.
