Subject: OSPF Router ID

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out how to set the OSPF Router-ID...

RouterB#sh ip int brief
Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
Ethernet0 unassigned YES NVRAM administratively down down
Loopback0 2.2.2.2 YES manual up up
Serial0 10.1.1.2 YES NVRAM up up
Serial1 10.1.1.5 YES NVRAM up up

I was expecting that the OSPF Router-ID to be 2.2.2.2, since it is a
Loopback Interface's IP.

But when I check it with "show ip ospf", the RID stays at 10.1.1.5.

RouterB#sh ip ospf
Routing Process "ospf 2" with ID 10.1.1.5
 Supports only single TOS(TOS0) routes
 Supports opaque LSA
SPF schedule delay 5 secs, Hold time between two SPFs 10 secs
Minimum LSA interval 5 secs. Minimum LSA arrival 1 secs
Number of external LSA 0. Checksum Sum 0x0
Number of opaque AS LSA 0. Checksum Sum 0x0
Number of DCbitless external and opaque AS LSA 0
Number of DoNotAge external and opaque AS LSA 0
Number of areas in this router is 1. 1 normal 0 stub 0 nssa
 External flood list length 0
    Area BACKBONE(0) (Inactive)
Number of interfaces in this area is 2
        Area has simple password authentication
        SPF algorithm executed 1 times
        Area ranges are
Number of LSA 1. Checksum Sum 0xFF6A
Number of opaque link LSA 0. Checksum Sum 0x0
        Number of DCbitless LSA 0
        Number of indication LSA 0
        Number of DoNotAge LSA 0
        Flood list length 0

I have tried "admin shutdown" the Serial 1's interface, do a "clear
ip ospf process" etc.. but nothing seems to help. The only thing
that works is if I use the "router-id" command, or reloading the
router.

N.B:- I'm using IOS 12.2(10b).

Thanks,

H.
