RE: BVI Problem

On the contrary Greg, this can be done with fastethernet subinterfaces if
properly configured. I have tested this type of scenario before with
fastethernet subinterfaces and it worked. Like I said in my past reponse,
"bridge 1 route ipx" should be added to the config in order to route ipx
traffic from vlan 10 to the BVI interface. This way, the BVI interface will
bridge the received IPX traffic to bridge group 1 members (vlan 20 & 40).

Bridging of IP and IPX traffic between vlans 20 & 40 will be handled by
default on irb. No further configuration is required to do that.

Please check to make sure that those Vlans are up and running on your
switch.

I believe you have other devices connected in your scenario, make sure that
your router doing irb knows how to reach this other deviced IP routing-wise.

Good luck.

Lekan
