RIP derived host routes on the backbone

I'm hoping someone can provide a reasonable answer to this question.

Suppose you have an ASBR which is redistributing statics and rip subnets into
and OSPF
backbone, and someone wants your to redistribute host routes opposed to
subnets.

Would this be a bad thing for OSPF area 0 based on these routes not being
aggregated, or
can state that this would not be a terrible idea unless the number of host
routes are excessive?

Is there a limit to the number of host routes you can have present in the
routing table?
