Redistributing into EIGRP without metric

Hello Group,
I am trying to redistrubute EIGRP and OSPF into each other. With no metiric (or
 default-metric) configured in both the redistribute statements, I noticed that
 OSPF routes were not redistributed into EIGRP but EIGRP into OSPF worked fine.

With metrics configured, everything was ok.

Is this the correct behaviour? If so can you please tell me why?
