FLSM/VLSM, fatkid 501; undocumented use of summary address?

 Hello,
On R3 in fatkid 501 lab summary-address is used to summarize OSPF routes. I
thought that summary address should be used to summarize external routes.
But here it is used to summarize OSPF routes. Is it a undocumented use ,
kind of trick you need to know and employ for the lab?
Or am I missing something? Should I add this trick to my CCIE Lab toolkit?
