Hi Everyone,
Finally it's my turn to send this email to the group. I passed the lab yesterda
y in Sydney, on my second attempt.
I just got the email a couple of hours ago, so it still hasn't fully sunk in.
I haven't sent too many emails to the group, but I've always felt encouraged an
d motivated after reading other peoples success stories, so I thought I'd send
this out to try and give others the same feeling.
I'll keep this short as I probably don't have a lot of extra things to add with
regards preparation, that hasn't already been said.
The exam itself is fairly long, lots to do in one day, but having done lots and
lots of labs and made up my own complex scenarios, I was able to quickly find
all the tricks and traps.
For those of you who think the one-day lab is easier than the two-day lab, thin
k again.
Books I'd recommend are pretty much the same as everyone else has mentioned, wi
th the addition maybe of the Cisco Press 'BGP Command & Configuration Handbook'
, which a good friend of mine lent me a couple of weeks ago. It gives excellent
coverage and examples of all BGP commands.
Also, it really helps if you have a study partner or two that you can work thro
ugh labs and scenarios with on a regular basis. Two or three heads are always b
etter than one. Thanks to all you guys for helping me get through this, and esp
ecially for all the encouragement along the way. (You know who you are)
And of course I have to pay a special tribute to my wife, who stuck by me throu
gh all those long months of constant study. Thanks Helen, I know it was hard, b
ut it's now finally all over babes!!
Finally, the best advise I can give anyone attempting this, is to study, study,
study, and then when you think you finally know the topic, study it again!
It is achievable, so keep up the hard work, and I promise you, it will all be w
orth it in the end.
Now I think it's time for me to get acquainted with social life again, firstly
by having a FEW beers,
Best of luck to all of you,
Cheers,
Keith
