Definitely move companies, maybe even locations ... when I passed mine, I
got an immediate 30% bump ... the promotion was already there, but my
company is a Cisco Gold Partner, so it behooves them to keep me happy and
keep me employed there ... you might look around for a company that is a
Silver Partner looking to upgrade ... the points difference in margin that a
Gold Partner can offer as compared to a Silver Partner is substantial ...
for instance, my company saves 3-6 Million dollars a year having me on staff
with my thumb up my ass ... when I work for them, it's just gravy ... good
luck and congratulations!

Subject: OT - Recent CCIE looking for advice from other CCIE's

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the off topic, but I need some advice and I don't know where else
to
get it. I am looking for some honest advice from any fairly recent CCIE's. I
got my CCIE about a month ago and I was really excited. I had worked my butt
off studying night and day for about a year. My work paid for alot of
training
along the way and I am grateful for that. But now, they feel like they got
me
my CCIE Certification and to them nothing has changed. "work as usual" They
are not understanding or comprehending the sacrifices that I have made to
get
there. Everyone on this lists knows that no matter how much training or how
many classes you go to, that's not even close to enough to pass that lab. Do
employers know this? I've heard my Employer saying that CCIE's are making
about $80K in this area. (Orange County, CA) I don't have any evidence to
prove them wrong, since I don't know any other CCIE's. I have always heard
that once you get your CCIE, you get the big raise, the promotion, etc.
Well,
this is far from my reality. I got a quick handshake and a congratulations.
I
know that the market is not very good right now, but this is very
frustrating.
Is anyone else experiencing the same type of problem? or am I just getting
screwed? If anyone can share with me their "post CCIE" experience it would
really help me out. Thanks for your time everyone. -jd
