Not 100% sure on this, but I think the ring out and ring in ports are for
daisy-chaining (uplinking) maus. At any rate, I've never used ring out or
ring in port on the two maus that I have. I just use the other ports. As for
cables, I use the lobe cables for connecting to my type-1 mau (the big ugly
cables that are rigid and a pain to work with) or media filters and a
straight-through cat5 cable to my rj-45 token ring mau. You can also search
ebay for mau and find lots of interesting token ring products that may help
you.
