I think the problem is that there is a switch in the middle. I don't
recall the exact problem, but I think it had something to do with the way
a switch handles multicast packets or broadcasts that stops the DR
selection process. I may be off-base, but you might want to try it with
just a hub. If I get a chance, I'll ping the guy tomorrow to find out the
exact issue.
