Well first of all, congratulation on your CCIE!! I just wanted to shared
my 2cents. With the economy right now, contracting and consulting is
harshed. I understand as a consulting or contractor, the pay scales is
totally different from a permanent employee. Not many companies can
afforded to have consulting on their budget, and plus many consulting
firm doesn't have the kind of money to have their staff sitting on the
bench for long.
So with that, keep in mind there will alway be a better tomorrow and
plenty of $$ out there for all your CCIEs to earn... I would consider
security at the priority on my list right now, do it because of
families....
Thanks,
Tu

Subject: OT - CCIE looking for consulting/contracting advice (Contract
vs Permanent?)
Sorry for the off topic, but I need some advice from the pro's. I am
currently a full time employee in the Orange County area and I am
looking at
the idea of doing contract work now that I have my CCIE. I have never
done
any consulting before, and I do not know any CCIE consultants in the
area
who can give me some advice on the decision of Contract vs Permanent. I
am
looking at going with RHIC. If anyone has any experience in this area I
would greatly appreciate some words of wisdom and advice. I have a 3
week
old son, a new house, and the bills are piling up, so I don't want to
make a
blind decision without talking to the people who actually have done this
type of work. Thanks in advance for any help.
Justin
