If the answer can be found in officially published materials, then it is
most definitely not subject to NDA. So if Cisco has published something at
http://www.cisco.com/networkers/au/internal_html/sessions/sessions.html then
it is certainly ok to read the material here and answer based on this
published material.

The answer is: it depends. Cisco now says there are two ways it is done.
Console port and ethernet port.

To be truthful, someone preparing for the lab has other things to worry
about. All this trivia about the terminal server connection and whether or
not you can use notepad and what kind of PC is there, does not serve well.
When you get there, what you have is what you have.

Read the CCIE power session that Cisco makes available for free. This is a
great starting point for anyone's studies.

Damn fine question actually. I would be interested in the answer to this
BUT is it a bit close to the NDA. Being nit picky you could say if we get
an answer to this then someone has just told us something about the lab.

Dodgy! ;->

Folks,

Is the PC used in the lab on a lan with the terminal server?
In other words, do we have the ability to have as many device windows /
sessions open simultaneously, by telnetting to the relevant device hanging
off the terminal server or is the connectivity between the PC and the
terminal server just via the console port / COM1 in which case we're limited
to having 1 session open and having to jump between device sessions.

Thanks in advance

Andy
