First, verify that your line is available with "clear line 1" on the
termserver. For some reason they need to be cleared sometimes. You might
change your subnet-mask to something other than 32 bit on 1.1.1.1 also. Try
255.255.0.0. After making and saving changes clear the line 1 and 2 and try
it again. Just telnet 1.1.1.1 2001 and press enter a few times. The cables
are connoted correctly, right? Maybe your octal cable is bad. The link below
shows a simple term_server config. You can compare and see if you've missed
anything.
