John, this happens all the time. AUX interfaces on the 2509 are being flaky.
You have to clear the line and get in right away, if fails, try getting in
5-6 times, then clear the line again if that didn't work. You have to keep
trying.

So in your case r2 is line 2.

do this:

clear line 2

and right away

r2

and keep trying, until you get in. Use the UP arrow key and the ENTER key.
