not necessarily.
It depends how your PABX is configured.
If you PABX is configured as a Net, you should be user... and vice versa.

Just guessing, but if you are connecting to a PABX, should'nt your ISDN be
configured as "Network" mode. By default it is "User" mode. I have done this
for ISDN PRI's and when you configure the PRI for Network mode, in the SHOW
ISDN STAT it tells you the interface is configured for Network Mode.

Asynchronous Balanced Mode Extended, it bugged me that I could only
remember part of the achronym, so I found this info relevant to your
trouble.
It appears that the layer 1 error, should be fixed first; I do not think
it is the wrong switch type as I remeber that will give you different
errors. The excerpt from cisco follows.
#
#3.Verify that asynchronous balanced mode extended (SABME) messages do
not appear. These messages indicates that Layer 2 is trying to
reinitialize. The messages usually #appear when
# poll requests (RRp) are transmitted and there is no response
from the switch (RRf), or vice versa. Following are examples of SABME
messages:
# Mar 20 10:06:21.702: ISDN Se0:15: RX <- SABMEp sapi = 0
tei = 0
# Mar 20 10:06:22.494: ISDN Se0:15: TX -> SABMEp sapi = 0
tei = 0
#
#
Can you give us a sho int bri0 output?
Regards,
Andres
