Not sure why you would want a default route on BOTH sides pointing at each
other--great way to create routing loops. Your config will work if you
leave the default on R1, but ADD a specific route on R2. For example, on R2
create the static route: ip route 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 12.1.1.1
