Limit to Static Routes?

Is there any limit to the number of next hop equal cost paths you can have
when using static routes? I know if you are using eigrp or BGP or other
IGP's you have a limit of 6 next hops per route. But what if you have eight
default static routes pointing to 8 different serial ports. Can you load
balance across all eight paths?
