The really weird thing is that according to Cisco, the default Local Pref
is 100. When I do a show ip bgp on RC, I get a Local Pref of 100 for the
RC-RA link and no Local Pref is indicated for the backup path. Still, one
should conclude that both links have a Local Pref of 100 (the default), and
therefore the MED should have an effect. On RD, I was able to set the
metric of the RD-RA link to less than the RC-RA link, and RD prefers the
RD-RA link (EVEN THOUGH HIS LOCAL PREF FOR THE OTHER LINK IS 100
(indicated, not blank)). Follow me? I'm not sure I follow me!! ;-/ Is
this what you see?
