Thanks for all replies. I think you are correct about the different
versions. That is why I had to use the "codec g729r8 pre-ietf" on one of the
routers so far. Without the pre-ietf command it is really bizarre sounding
(see my earlier "gremlins post"). I am finding out that VOIP is much more
sensitive to version and equipment differences. . I can't upgrade the 2600
yet, but I have memory and flash on the way, so that I can put the same
version on after the upgrade.
