RE: Passive interface questions

Hmmm, the question only mentions an interface - route filtering is done on a
per-network basis, where as passive is done on a per-interface basis. Thus,
logic dictates that the question refers to using passive interface.....In
the lab, the questions are very explicit and aren't really open to much
interpretation.

Simon,

Makes sense, it sounds like not to advertise the network that is configured
on tokenring0. If the serial interface and tokenring interface are on in the

same classfull boundry then it will be advertise the tokenring network
regardless of the passive interface. So that leaves you will only one
option, filter the tokenring network (distribute-list/route-maps) from
eigrp.

Hope this helps.

Can anyone clarify the requirements when a question is worded :

"Configure eigrp on the serial link between R1 and R2. Make sure
token-ring0 is not included in eigrp"

If the serial link network address falls in the same class boundary as the
token, the token network will still advertised even if there's an
appropriate passive-interface.

Is the question asking you not to send eigrp updates down the link?

Or is is asking you to do a distribute-list out (or similar) to exclude the
token ring network???
