The EIGRP summary route is only sent out of the interface - it is not
applied to generate a summary for incoming routes.
EIGRP automatically creates a route entry to null0 to avoid route feedback
issues.

Subject: EIGRP summarisation question
I am trying to summarise an incoming EIGRP route, but when I apply the
command I thought was correct to the ethernet interface I get both the
original class C and the summarised class B in the routing tables once
redistributed into OSPF. Is this correct? I suspect not.
Can someone advise, thanks.
Eddie.
I've tried to sumarise 197.200.2.0 to 197.200.0.0................
interface Ethernet0/0
ip address 132.1.5.1 255.255.255.0
no ip redirects
ip summary-address eigrp 100 197.200.0.0 255.255.0.0 90
router eigrp 100
redistribute connected metric 10 10 255 1 1500
network 132.1.5.0 0.0.0.255
and I get this on the eigrp and ospf status............
R3#sh ip route eigrp
D 197.200.2.0/24 [90/409600] via 132.1.5.2, 00:08:03, Ethernet0/0
132.1.0.0/16 is variably subnetted, 14 subnets, 4 masks
D EX 132.1.1.7/32 [170/256028160] via 132.1.5.2, 00:08:03, Ethernet0/0
D 197.200.0.0/16 is a summary, 00:08:03, Null0
