here are the solutions I know about for dial backup
dialer-watch-lists-IGRP/EIGRP only-not a fit for this
floating static routes-not a fit either
snapshot routing-Distance vector routing protocols
OSPF demand circuit-ospf specific
backup interface-possibly a fit-this is a bad solution for frame relay
because backup interface will only detect a down down state, not a down up
state. This may be the solution for an HDLC as if anything goes down the
interface shows down, down

does anyone know of any other DDR solutions I missed?

Subject: Interesting ISDN problem

Gentleman,

My network layout :

          ISDN
       ----------
       | |
 -e0--RA--HDLC--RB--e0
 OSPF OSFP

When HDLC link fails - enable ISDN as backup, BUT ....
No static routes and no routing protocol on ISDN

Can this be done ? If so how ?

I would like your input on this !

Ken
