Well there are some advantages to using AURP versus GRE.

1. AURP allows you to do an Appletalk unnumbered to reserve cab ranges and avoi
d an overlap
2. AURP send tickles messages (keepalives) every 90 seconds versus 10 seconds f
or RTMP updates
3. AURP works with non-cisco gear. So if you have to connect to other vendors s
tuff. Or just as a practice
I tend to use Industry standards to be on the safe side.

Is this question out of line?

Does anyone have an opinion on this?

I hear a lot of talk about using the AURP tunnels(& issues) and I don't see a
reason not to use the gre tunnel with address and cable range instead.

Regarding Appletalk tunnels,

What would be the reason to use an AURP tunnel over a gre tunnel with an
appletalk cable range & a zone?

They both seem to accomplish the same thing. Would the connectivity options
still remain the same?
