Configure 2 routers on the same subnet use ip irdp one with higher
preference.
Take either a PC or router try to ping some far end N/W.
If U are using PC then sdon't configure default- gateway on it.
If U are using router to test in better way disable ip routing and assign ip
address belongs to the same n/w as the first two routers. When U try to ping
or trace it should work fine.
If U want to change the pref and test again to observer wheteher new router
is becoming def GW or not clear arp chache and then test.
Hope this helps U.

Subject: IRDP Help!

Hi Folks,

I was looking over the configs for IRDP and they seem faily simple, but for
the
life of me I can't get them to work in a lab environment. I have 2 2514
each
with an interface in two different subnets, and another router in each
subnet
acting as a host. I can configure irdp on the 2514s with different
priorities
and stuff, but how do I test the setup?

I tried not setting a default gateway on one of the clients, in the hopes
that
irdp on the 2514s would provide the required info, no luck. I tried adding
the
"ip irdp address A.B.C.D" for the host on the remote subnet, no luck. I
might
be missing something here, but can someone enlighten me, perhaps with an
example, on how irdp can be tested in a router-only environment?

Thank you.

p.s. Anyone going to RTP on 28-29 March?

- Ben
