Yes, using an access list with debugs is very useful and safe. There is one
"gotcha" to look out for however.........be absolutely certain the debug is
off before getting rid of the access list! :-)

Always Debug as specific as possible. For example if you try to debug ip
packets in a production
network environment, "debug ip packet de" simply give this command and it
will collapse your
router within seconds. But if you give "debug ip packet detail <access-list
#>" for a particular
souce-ip then you will reduce the burden a lot.

In Ethernet LAN, I believe IP broadcast Address is translated to mac
ffff.ffff.ffff so same should
happen in LANE as well. And Broadcasts should go to BUS.

Subject: Two Qs
hello,
I'm confused with these TWO, can anyone please help me out, or just give
his/her opinion!!
Q1.
How a PC(an ATM LEC, client) performs the IP ARP(Layer2->Layer3) ?
Actually I know that BUS is involved with, when resolving a MAC to its
corresponding ATM address for an unknown LEC(client). But what about the IP
ARP broadcast, will it be handled by BUS too??
Q2. Can we use "schedular interval <msec>" command to lessen the burden on
CPU, considering CPU is under heavy loads, e.g., handling too much debug
traffic. Is there any other method we can reduce the burden on CPU in this
situation?
Thanx in advance,
