RE: ATM: LANE Client config sample

You need one LECS somewhere in your LANE environment. This can be the Cat,
or it could be something else. You need to ensure that the ATM switch
(LS1010?) ios configured with this address so that it can let clients that
attempt to connect know what it is.

You then need one LES/BUS per elan (specified in the lane database on the
LECS).

Now, the big question is, what will we get in the lab ?

I suspect it will be simple LANE (as this is primarily a routing an
switching lab), so it will probably be initially brought in as another layer
2 type connection. The question is whether we will just need to connect a
single LAN module (on a router?) to connect to a switch, or will we need to
provide connectivity ?

One could think the best way would be to create a couple of ethernet VLANs
on a Cat 5000 and use an ATM LANE connection with a couple of elans on a Cat
5000 connected to a router ATM module to route between the elans as being a
good test, but will they have enough equipment for this bearing in mind that
they will want to test more than IP connectivity in other part of the labs ?
(Does the work tunnel spring to mind) ?

I expect I'll find out in a couple of weeks.
