My post from a week or so back may have sparked some of this animosity.
First off, v5 is coming but I would never use it as an excuse to stop
studying current blue print. There is no need to get overwhelmed, wait, or
quit pursuing... Fact is things change at very accelerated pace these days
and most likely any lab you sit today will struggle to be current. Just
because it isnt current doesnt mean it isnt relevant.

A few thoughts with respect to relevancy (which I think we will find
backlog of in the archives). I am ramping up for CCIE Data Center. There
have been some minor adjustments to the blueprint in what appears to be an
effort bringing topics more to date. Fact is that data center space is
changing more rapid than all othersThe industry (at least in the Bay Area)
has adopted clustered virtualization using L3 access, ECMP, and VxLAN to
bridge DC's but I dont see all these topics on the v1 Blue Print. Same
goes for storage where the adoption rate with mid market and startups is
much higher towards file storage compared to block. Big Data, No SQL, and
Hadoop environments gain popularity but no mention of how to optimize for
this through UCS/Nexus on the blue print. Automation stacks based on open
source distributions like Puppet also becoming more common. Network
programming is most alive in the Data Center space but, again, missing from
the CCIE DC blue print.CCIE is more about the perseverance of setting out
and completing a long and difficult journey. It is demonstrating mastery of
topics from a snapshot in time proving you have the capacity to conquer
both the topics of today and what is coming next.
