igmp is for host to router comms vs pim which is router to router comms
static-group is for fast switching of group traffic out the interface vs join-group which is used for test purposes to generate a join report and will be process switched by the router
I'd be interested to know how this works with no pim?
Is the Juniper firewall transparently permitting the mcast / pim traffic?
Draw your topology
