Tony,
Yes you are correct regarding the versions, that's why you still have to
read the configuration guide, but what the Cisco Wiki gives you are very
easy to understand examples and how you would actually apply it in a
network. The configuration guides uses Cisco's most confusing method of
explaining PFR...no wonder not a lot of places are running it.

I would also look at CiscoLive presentations. There is a lot of them on
PFR, but then again, pay attention to the version, since they have been
changing quite a bit in the versions of PFR.
