RE: RIPng UDP port

RIPng runs at UDP 521. The reason you would need to change the port is if you have multiple processes running on the same link, not on different links. If your config looks like this, and you just have multiple processes on the router, there's nothing you need to change:

interface FastEthernet0/0
 ipv6 rip 1 enable
!
interface FastEthernet0/1
 ipv6 rip 2 enable

If you have multiple processes on the same link then you can change the ports to differentiate them, such as with this config:

interface FastEthernet0/0
 ipv6 rip 1 enable
!
interface FastEthernet0/1
 ipv6 rip 2 enable
!
interface FastEthernet0/2
 ipv6 rip 1 enable
 ipv6 rip 2 enable

I'm not sure why you would want to do this, have multiple instances of the routing process on the same link, but technically you can do it. If you change the port just make sure you change it on both sides otherwise the processes can't communicate.

The significance is that only one routing process will be able to run on the udp port number 520,hence,if you've got two routing process on the same router, you will need to manually assign another udp port to take care of the second routing process.

I hope this helps. You can check TCP/IP vol. 1 by Jeff Doyle.

Cheers.

You can configure it under the routing process.

IPv6 router rip tst
  Port 5021
