There's a story to that. My employer opted to start rolling out Cisco ISE and
I'm the Lead on it. So, my story to the wife as to why I was building my rack
again but with Firewalls and security appliances was that I was prepping to be
know the ISE solution. Then, I morphed it that since I knew 60% of the
blueprint and now ISE, my management was encouraging me to get my CCIE and
learn the missing percentage.
I did study a lot less intrusively this time around and I didn't let my family
get too comfortable between CCIE attempts.
The key is to balance study, work, fun, and family, but not in that order. 4
hour lab sessions on my own racks after the family went to sleep was key to
that balance.
