Currently Cisco will support up to 4 applications per UCS server (C-series or B-series blade). As well, they are pretty strict about only running UC products when you have UC on UCS (few exceptions apply). So for a customer's production system, you will want to adhere to these rules, IMHO. As far as sizing the virtual server, you download OVA templates that allow you to select the size of the deployment and it builds the virtual server with the required RAM, HD, processor, etc. As far as sizing the host server, if you work for a partner, you can use the Netformix tool. If you do not, I would suggest working with a partner to determine the appropriate sized server.
Now, for a lab, all rules go out the window since performance and support are not really required :)
Hope this helps.

Subject: UCS vs MCS servers for CUCM, Unity, etc
I have heard cisco are moving away from MCS server solution and recommend the UCS server.
On that basis if i want to buy a UCS server for CUCM and Unity, how do i determine which UCS platform to get? It seems there are so many different UCS models that it gets confusing.
The old MCS server had recommended number of Phones that could register to it. For example 500 phones for MCS7816, 2000 phones for MCS7825, etc.
How can i find what platform is best for me based on my number of phones and how many servers I want on the UCS.
For example if i want a 7000 user server with CUCM + Unity on it, what UCS server should i buy?
Thanks
