Hi all
Not being the most experienced in the design function I have been given the
task of costing a Juniper vs Cisco design on routers/stackable switches &
firewalls for one of our customer sites in Ireland.
The aim of the project is to put some functions into one box, not that I
agree with it as having separate boxes gives you more resiliency & better
performance IMO.
Can I garner any experience from you gents what on a modern DC should
incorporate minus Nexus kit.
Scenario is Primary & DR site.
1# x1 Customer facing router at each site taking in ISDN30 customer
connections. (so no more then 2mbps) currently have the ISR G1's
2# x1 Firewall at each site running off the above routers - currently
running checkpoint on solaris
3# Requirement for stackable switches at each site which run off to server
farms (segregation of customer vlans)
Any advice on security precautions to take into account.... no requirement
for load balancers as I have already asked that question.
I also have to arrange a separate x2 2gbps FC's DWDM waves for SAN
connectivity of the two sites where we want to keep our brocade 300
switches in tact, again any points on these switches would be beneficial.
Your comments are warmly welcomed.
