While I understand the sentiment, there haven't been any further blueprint
changes announced, and they give what, six months lead time? I think it's
a little overly paranoid to be living in fear of what Cisco might do. I'm
all for contingency planning in the event a blueprint change is announced,
but to be worrying about it every day, yeah not going to happen.
I also think it's valuable to step outside the parameters of lab prep
every once in awhile and use the skills you're learning to tackle a real
world problem. We're not learning these skills so we can go to work and do
labs all day, after all. Being able to get remote access to a remote rack
is a simple, basic task that a CCIE candidate should be able to perform. I
also think it's a rather valuable one. I've found myself on multiple
occasions with a few hours to kill away from home (waiting for a flight,
kids at the dentist, etc), and I had my laptop and a wifi connection
available, so I boot up the rack and get some practice in (I also took the
additional steps of making sure I can power my rack on and off from remote
as well, my power bill thanks me)
However, this is just my opinion. To each their own!
