I think some of the principals are important to understand: PVC
Mapping/Resolution, Pseudo-broadcast, IGP behavior in various
topologies, etc..................
With that said, you are not likely to see frame-relay in many
companies these days. Eventually it will get phased out of the r&s, I
am sure.
