MPLS Traffic Engineering doesn't work unless you have "mpls ldp" enabled globally, even if you're not using LDP for labeling ;) The control plane will be properly built but data plane forwarding will fail at the line card level.

Also BGP on IOS XR won't initialize unless you have a Loopback configured. Most other platforms will pick their router-id from a physical interface if there is no Loopback available, but XR will not. This one bit me bad before :)

Subject: IOS XR stucking points. pls advice if u can add to the list I provided. These can cost u an attempt!!

Hi Guys,

I had a bit of exposure on XR IOS and so far I picked up the following, just wondering if there is any others to be added to be aware/carefull of:

-Negotiation auto!!
-Static routes for Labeled BGP sessions to redirect CEF to /32 (otherwise cef enrty will remain as "unresolved"
-vrf interfaces doesnt show up under sh ip int br
- line con0 --> no exec-t doesnt work. should use line con exec-timeout 0
- NO "section" in show run and also use " " to do multiple | pipes.

Please add more, as Im getting very fussy with this, little stuff that can easily cost u a lab attemp. specially the first note!!!

Cheers,
