Physical difference between Wic2t DCE/DTE

Lab cable are the smart serial back to back connections for Wic2t. What are
the difference and how does the router know if the DCE or DTE end is
connected? I just want to understand how the router is getting the
information for show controllers.

Tried to find a pint out for Wic2t back 2 back cables, but I was unable to.
The other standards all have different pinouts depending on the standard.
