Price, availability, latency, and distance would determine that. It's not so much the transport type. GigE over a MAN is obviously going to have less latency, but the cost might be higher, it just depends.

What are you trying to accomplish over it? Is it time sensitive packets? What is the distance between the two? What options for transport and carrier do you have?
