Are absolutely positive there are no other directly connected links
running PIM between your RP and MA? Are you absolutely positive that
R2 is running purely PIM sparse-mode on every link and not
sparse-dense mode?

Multicast can be a bit tough to troubleshoot without looking at some
show commands. What does "show ip mroute" look like on R2? Is it
showing that the autrp mcast groups are being forwarded out towards
the MA? If that is the case, we need to find out why.

The root cause issue here is not the MA. The MA is directly connected
so you should not need autorp listener there. The issue is figuring
out how the transit router R2 is propagating candidate RP mcast
messages if indeed it does not have sparse-dense mode or autorp
listener enabled.
