ip default-network

Hello all:

I am running through a lab and seeing some very unusual output. In EIGRP. I
have been asked to allow only a class A prefix (ie 3.0.0.0/8) to be
advertised to another router This router is not excluded from reachibility
requirement. Answer key specifies using the 'ip default network 3.0.0.0'
statement on the far end. I tried this and it didn't do anything. I tried
using the classful address in the statement 'ip default network 3.3.3.0'
and this was converted to a static address and is candidate default. It
doesn't seem to meet the requirement and appears to differ from the key due
to IOS version.

Has anyone run into this? It also lends me to wonder what could happen if
papers were written on a certain code, questions never updated and causing
a behavior that could lead to losing points in a section. I know that is
why proctor is there but don't you think that is alot to ask of the
candidate? Not only are we to remember a library full of commands but also
be aware of these subtleties in IOS code that could cause loss in
points....? Anyone else have experience with this.

Thanks in advance for the input.

Marc
